SPAM: A CLASSIC REIMAGINED
Coinciding with Art Dubai, Mondoir launches "SPAM: A Classic Reimagined," a groundbreaking pop-art exhibition by Amir Soleimani.
This provocative collection recontextualises SPAM — a cultural icon introduced in 1937, famously satirised by Monty Python, and later repurposed to symbolise digital noise — as a visual critique of modern digital excess. Each artwork in the series transforms the familiar SPAM can into an artistic vessel capturing contemporary absurdities such as social media overload, crypto mania, unsolicited marketing, and AI-generated triviality.
Breaking from digital art norms, SPAM artworks are intentionally physical, produced on CNC-cut wooden boards in limited editions. The exhibition makes a bold statement against digital saturation.
“Minting without meaning is just another form of spam. Not every creation needs a blockchain or a floor price to matter,” Amir Soleimani said.
The exhibition accompanies Soleimani's new book, "Fools & JPEGs," offering a critical, satirical exploration of the digital art and NFT landscape. Both exhibition and book challenge the status quo, urging creators and collectors to prioritise artistic intention over commercial hype.
Mondoir, founded by Amir Soleimani, is dedicated to bringing intentionality and cultural depth to Dubai’s art landscape.
