Richard Mille (RM) is to bring out two special edition watches to commemorate its new partnership with French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Under the agreement, which runs for the next three seasons, the watchmaking brand will be the Parisian club’s official supplier.
The brand has already teamed up with major athletes such as tennis champion Rafael Nadal, polo player Pablo Mac Donough, Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa, and most recently the sprinter Wayde van Niekerk.
PeterPeter Harrison, CEO of Richard Mille EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), says: “We are delighted with our new partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, freshly anointed Champions of France for the sixth year. Paris Saint-Germain’s commitment to excellence and innovation perfectly matches Richard Mille’s desire to create unique timepieces with a strong and uncompromising identity. We look forward to presenting the exclusive timepieces this joint endeavour gives rise to.”
Frédéric Longuépée, Deputy Managing Director at Paris Saint-Germain, adds: “As the new season gets under way, we are proud to welcome Richard Mille into the Paris Saint-Germain family. Just like the Club, Richard Mille has a desire to enable the new generation to reveal all of its talent. We look forward to working together in order to take our respective brands to the next level.”
The two special limited-edition watches will be available exclusively at Richard Mille’s Paris and Doha flagship stores.
NEW GEMS
Meanwhile, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has just unveiled two new ladies watches with gem-set NYPT carbon.
A signature feature of the Richard Mille men’s collection, NTPT carbon lends watches a unique and powerful appearance while simultaneously ensuring an optimal protection for the calibre.
Now, this material reveals its feminine side in the RM 07-01 and RM 037, which boast gem-set NTPT carbon of unsurpassed elegance, the watchmaker says.’
At the slightest wrist movement, all eyes are riveted by a striking contrast between the sparkle of clear diamonds and the matt carbon contour that adorn both of these automatic timepieces.
Setting gemstones in NTPT carbon is a new adventure Richard Mille. Unlike gold, which can be worked directly with tools to create the prongs that will hold the diamonds, the hardness and resistance of NTPT carbon mean special CNC machines for milling equipped with diamond tools are required to perform the mitraillage involved in a pavé setting, the brand says.
Hand-polished prongs in red or white gold are produced separately and then inserted around the many 0.25-mm bearings destined to firmly contain as many as 250 diamonds in the case of an RM 037 Full Set model.
Thanks to the technicity of their in-house calibres and their cases adorned with diamonds and NTPT carbon, the RM 07-01 and the RM 037 are particularly balanced and refined models, it adds.
The prices for both the new Richard Mille ladies’ watches will be revealed at SIHH 2017 in January 2017, according to reports.
