Ahmed Mohammed Al Hitmi has been named as the new Chairman of the Qatar International Boat Show (QIBS), which opens its doors next month.
One of the founding fathers of the maritime industry in Qatar, Al Hitmi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the show, according to the event’s organiser, Al Mannai Events.
In addition, Al Mannai Events has created a new management team to lead this year’s show, including established hospitality and events leader Nader Samaan as the show’s Director.
The 2016 edition of the QIBS is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Interior Minister, and runs from December 8 to 10 in Lusail.
Samaan commented: “QIBS is an institution in Qatar’s annual events calendar and it is a pleasure to be part of the new dynamic team at Al Mannai Events, who all bring a wealth of experience to ensure the show’s success for another year.
“The aim is to keep pace with the development and modernity of Qatar and the GCC’s blossoming maritime industry, in order to explore new markets and fulfil the desires of customers. This year we have injected new blood into the show to develop a new vision for the future, which is evident in the new look and feel.”
Al Hitmi offered his gratitude for the ongoing support of the show from all Qatari officials including His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, who is represented by Sheikh Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
He also thanked the Ministry of Interior & Coast Guard Department and all participants and organisations who have continued to support QIBS.
This year’s show will include a VIP opening ceremony December 7, where Sheikh Abdullah will officially open the show.
QIBS ’16 will then be open Thursday, December 8 until Saturday, December 10, 2.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
Motorboats, luxury yachts and unique dhows will be showcased on both land and water; exhibitor chalets will then line the marina walkway representing many of the top names in the maritime industry, both local and international. Pre-bookings for viewing specific brands and models on display are recommended, to avoid disappointment.
