Embraer delivered today the first Legacy 450 mid-light business jet assembled at its Melbourne plant. The aircraft was delivered on December 14 to an undisclosed US customer, who currently owns a Phenom 300 light jet.
“We are pleased to meet customers’ changing needs throughout their journey with a broad product portfolio. The choice of the Legacy 450 by a Phenom 300 customer testifies to the best-in-class design of each of our aircraft,” said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, President & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “In its category, the Legacy 450 delivers a superior customer experience with unparalleled comfort and performance as well as the most favourable economics.”
The assembly of this aircraft began with the inauguration of the Melbourne assembly plant expansion, in June of this year. The second Legacy 450 is already on the assembly line, and its delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.
The larger Legacy 500 midsize jet will begin to be assembled in Melbourne, early in 2017, soon after the arrival of its fuselage from Embraer’s plant, in Botucatu, Brazil, and its wings from Évora, Portugal, home to Embraer’s materials centre. The Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 are also produced in Brazil at Embraer’s plant in São José dos Campos.
LEGACY 450
The Legacy 450 is a mid-light business jet with a best-in-class 6-foot-tall flat-floor cabin. Four fully reclining club seats may be berthed into two beds for complete rest in a 6,000-foot cabin altitude. The optional in-flight entertainment system consists of a high-definition video system, surround sound, and multiple audio and video input options. Voice and data communications options are also available. The cabin includes a refreshment centre at the entrance, a rear private lavatory with a vacuum toilet and an in-flight-accessible baggage area. The total baggage space is said to be the largest in the aircraft’s category.
The jet is the first business aircraft in its segment with full fly-by-wire technology, featuring side-stick flight controls, the state-of-the-art Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite with four 15.1-inch high-resolution LCD displays, and paperless operations capability, with graphical flight planning, Jeppesen charts and maps and a synthetic vision system. The optional Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) features a Head-up Display (HUD) and an Enhanced Video System (EVS).
The Legacy 450 is powered by two Honeywell HTF 7500E turbofan engines. With four passengers and NBAA IFR Reserves, the Legacy 450 is capable of flying 2,900 nm (5,371 km).
Brazil’s Embraer is one of the world’s leading executive jet manufacturers, having entered the business aviation market in 2000 with the Legacy jet, which led to the launch of Embraer Executive Jets in 2005. Its portfolio, the broadest in the market, consists of the entry-level Phenom 100 and the light Phenom 300 jet, the midsize Legacy 500 midsize and mid-light Legacy 450, the large Legacy 650E, and the ultra-large Lineage 1000E. Embraer Executive Jets’ global fleet exceeds 1,000 aircraft, which are in operation in more than 60 countries and are supported by a global customer support and services network of over 70 service centres, complemented by a 24/7 Contact Centre, at its headquarters, in Brazil.
