InterContinental Hotels Group is expanding its footprint in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi with plans to open a new waterfront property in the city.
Slated to open in December 2019, the InterContinental Abu Dhabi-Grand Marina celebrates the city’s past — steeped in archaeological finds and historic poetry.
US-based architectural and interior design firm Wilson Associates drew its design inspiration from the curves of calligraphy as evidenced in the furniture, artwork and architecture of this 184-room property.
The InterContinental Abu Dhabi-Grand Marina also incorporates elements of the nearby ocean with sculptural waves and soft curves. The resort-style guest rooms include refreshing bursts of blues, teals and greens in the accessories and fabrics.
From the moment guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by accents of ocean-inspired blues and greens, and soft contemporary furnishings.
The hotel’s all-day dining venue incorporates elements from its surroundings, bringing the beachy feel from the outdoors inside such as a floor tile pattern that recreates the look of ripples of sand.
Other public spaces will include a spa, prayer room, meeting spaces and fitness facility.
