Luxury interior design house Oro Bianco is to launch a nautical-themed furniture collection next month.
The new Maritime furniture collection, beautifully crafted in Italy to the highest standards, will be launched in October.
Inspired by Italy’s maritime history, the furniture feels masculine in design, but is softened by many delicate embellishments.
The Maritime Collection reflects the sturdiness and robustness of the Italian merchant ships of old, combined with a strong colonial feel, drawing on the influence of gentleman travellers from the past and the materials that they discovered when crossing the sea.
Each piece is completely handmade, in Italy, by skilled craftsmen. From the bespoke joinery and hand-worked inlay and metalwork, each element is carefully crafted, to bring traditional design up-to-date and create furniture to truly last a lifetime and beyond. The nautical influence is presented even in the smallest design details, such as the specific form of the metal door knobs and keys, inspired by the shape and pattern of the grilled windows of the first diving suits.
Each material has been carefully considered, from the dark-stained solid wood, ebony macassar and white bone inlay, and suede and leather-lined shelves to the gun-metal and bronze ironmongery details. The desired finish and size of each piece is also customisable – for instance a high gloss finish for the wood may be preferred to French polish, or bone inlay replaced by resin or mother of pearl. There are a variety of options.
Each piece of furniture takes around 16 weeks to make and exudes the romance and adventure of our ancestor travellers – a nod to the elegant lifestyle of the past, the company says.
The collection comprises a writing Desk, bar, gentleman’s chest, demilune, side table, ottoman, console table and coffee table.
Founded in 2011 by award-winning architect Luigi Esposito, interior designer Stefania Mazzarani and MD Killian Thomas Lynch, Oro Bianco specialises in creating magnificent architectural interiors for London’s super-prime properties.
