Harry Winston’s latest iteration of its Avenue Collection is a sophisticated travel companion for women on the move.
The Avenue C Dual Time, with its elegant Art Deco design, features a second time zone function, for jetsetters who want to travel in style.
In order to create a clear visual distinction between the two counters on the dial, the larger counter for local time features Roman numerals, while the smaller home time counter displays the hours and minutes with Arabic numerals.
In addition to the difference in size and numerals, the orientation of the minute track changes from a vertical position in the local time counter, to a horizontal position for home time: subtle design choices that make the dial extremely easy to read.
Frequent fliers will appreciate the fact that both counters are powered by two separate, totally independent, quartz movements for enhanced precision and performance. But what sets this timepiece apart from most traditional dual timers is the possibility of setting both the hour and the minute hands using the double crowns on the side of the case, which means that non-standard time differences of half-hour and quarter-hour derivations (used in countries like India, Iran and Nepal) can be accounted for.
Named after Fifth Avenue - the most prestigious shopping address in the world and home to Harry Winston’s New York flagship salon - the Avenue Collection evokes the stylish and streamlined geometry of the Art Deco period, when Harry Winston founded his namesake business in 1932.
The elongated rectangular 18-karat gold case of the Avenue C Dual Time is gently cambered in the center to sit perfectly on the wrist. Glowing with the light of 42 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case, the two crowns are also set with truncated diamonds in classic Harry Winston style. Framing the case at both ends, the iconic arches of the Avenue recall the grand arched doorway that leads into the Fifth Avenue Salon.
Set against a glowing mother-of-pearl background, the vintage typography used for the numerals and the minute track perfectly complement the Art Deco inspiration behind the timepiece.
The minute track is shaped in honour of Mr Winston’s preference for emerald-cut stones, the same shape that houses the hand-applied 18- karat gold Harry Winston logo placed at 12 o’clock. Inside the minute track, a series of floral motifs emanate from the centre of the dial.
Available in 18-karat rose gold and 18-karat white gold models, the Avenue C Dual Time is presented on seamless alligator leather straps with a lustrous pearl finish. The 18-karat gold ardillon buckle on both models is set with six brilliant-cut diamonds and features an 18-karat gold folding clasp that adapts perfectly to the contours of the wrist for added comfort and security.
