Winter 2019
Luxury Swiss watchmaker Jaquet Droz and the UAE-based Rivoli Group have unveiled an exclusive new version of Jaquet Droz’s iconic Bird Repeater automaton at its branch in The Dubai Mall, Dubai.
The exclusive launch of the one-of-a-kind watch is part of the city’s largest shopping extravaganza, Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), an initiative by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
The falcon, the national symbol of the UAE, was honoured in the exclusive new model that draws on 280 years of the Jaquet Droz Art of Astonishment. Engraved and painted entirely by hand, the 47mm white gold case presents a desert scene in mother of pearl, while the yellow and red gold depicts father and son falconers.
This unusually complex automaton comes to life to the sound of an impressive fine watchmaking complication: the minute repeater. It can chime the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on demand via the cathedral gongs nestled inside the movement.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, commented: “Jaquet Droz’s exclusive introduction not only celebrates an iconic brand’s remarkable new model, but also the UAE’s distinct heritage. It is the launch of brand exclusives like the Bird Repeater Falcon timepiece that makes the Dubai Shopping Festival so special, and we are grateful to our partners for making this event a must-see element of this year’s festival.”
The stunning one-of-a-kind automaton wristpiece is on display at the Jaquet Droz boutique at The Dubai Mall as part of the 24th DSF celebrations and brand exclusives initiative.
