Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille has brought out another special edition in honour of its brand ambassador, Jamaican sprinter and Olympic gold medallist Yohan Blake.
The RM 61-01 Yohan Blake Monochrome is a limited edition of 50 pieces available exclusively at Richard Mille boutiques in Geneva (Switzerland), Paris (France), London Mount Street and Harrods, (UK) Milan (Italy), Monaco, Dubai and Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Doha (Qatar).
The case of the watch is created using black TZP-N ceramic with a caseband in NTPT carbon. The white flying bridges, crown rubber, strap and lower flange create the monochrome aesthetic.
Blake is the second fastest man in history over 100 m and 200 m and the aerodynamic shape of the watch accentuates this with drawn out lines between the 2 and 5 o’clock positions on the case.
This timepiece also features novel crown protectors, offering full security to the crown during sports and other activities.
The skeletonised RMUL2 movement with 55 hours power reserve is built in grade 5 titanium treated with PVD and
Titalyt using a free sprung balance beating at 4Hz. Developed with sporting applications in mind, Richard Mille has consciously aimed for exceptional impact resistance, with validation testing for the RM 61-01 carried out in excess of 5000 G’s.
This is the third RM61-01 Yohan Blake watch in the collection.
