Jaguar will produce a special edition of the F-Pace, its first ever sports utility vehicle (SUV), strictly limited to just 2,000 vehicles globally.
The special edition was revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its doors to the public tomorrow.
The UK car manufacturer said its world-class design team have created the unique and sporty First Edition to pay homage to the F-PACE’s original inspiration – the breakthrough C-X17 concept vehicle. The specially-created First Edition is the purest representation of the C-X17 and features exclusive design details true to the original concept, says Jaguar.
The F-Pace is Jaguar’s first performance crossover and is packed with world-leading technology including the new, super-fast and super-intuitive In Control Touch Pro infotainment system. Featuring sharp, contemporary graphics and a 10-inch tablet style touch screen, the system is complemented by a suite of specially developed apps and a wi-fi hotspot that allows up to eight devices to connect at once.
Jaguar Land Rover Chief Marketing Officer Gerd Mauser says: “Two years ago, Jaguar revealed the C-X17, right in Frankfurt. Since that time we have been inundated with people asking us to make it and it was this growing interest that inspired us to create the F-Pace First Edition - a special edition to celebrate the C-X17 concept.
“With only 2,000 units available globally, we expect the Jaguar F-Pace First Edition to sell out – we are receiving an incredible amount of interest from customers who want to be the first and who want the best.”
F-Pace First Edition models get a unique paint colour: the stunning Caesium Blue that featured on the original C-X17 concept.
Further unique design details include special 22-inch double helix alloy wheels with grey finish and contrast inserts, a unique interior with Houndstooth embossed Windsor Leather Sports seats, special carpet mats and a Gloss Black trim finisher, which also features the modern yet quintessentially British Houndstooth pattern.
In addition to the unique features, Jaguar’s designers have hand-picked their favourite F-Pace design and technology options to make the First Edition the epitome of high-specification luxury. These include Jaguar’s superb, new and intuitive infotainment system – InControl Touch Pro – and sports car-derived performance technology including Adaptive Dynamics.
Red brake calipers, full-LED headlights with LED ‘J’ blade Daytime Running Lights, panoramic roof, illuminated metal tread plates and configurable interior mood lighting are amongst the other luxurious features also included as standard. The sporty look is completed by the S model body kit, which comes as standard.
The Jaguar F-Pace First Edition comes with the 3.0-litre V6 300PS diesel engine with eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive and costs £65,275 ($101,205).
Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director Jeremy Hicks says: “F-Pace First Edition is the ultimate F-Pace, with all the style, performance, technology, luxury and exclusivity that make Jaguar cars so exciting. With only 200 models available in the UK, we anticipate it selling-out very quickly.”
The F-Pace is the latest new model from the Jaguar stable following the launches of the XE and XF. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Britain, these new models are the result of a £1.5 billion ($2.33 billion) investment that has accelerated Jaguar Land Rover’s world leadership in lightweight technology.
Built alongside the Jaguar XE at the flagship Solihull manufacturing plant, Jaguar’s breakthrough model has resulted in an additional £120 million ($186.5 million) of investment in the facility. This takes the total amount invested in Solihull’s ‘factory within a factory’ to £620 million ($961 million) – the largest investment in the 7-year history of the Midlands-based plant.
Speaking at Frankfurt, Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr Ralf Speth says: “We are pushing the boundaries in design, engineering and manufacturing to deliver outstanding cars. Our investment in the development of the F-Pace; its industry leading architecture and the UK plants which support its manufacture provides a clear signal that Jaguar Land Rover is committed to Britain and advancing the skills and capability of the industry”.
The F-Pace follows the Jaguar XE, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and Jaguar XF in adopting the award-winning Ingenium engine. Manufactured at the company’s Engine Manufacturing Centre, the four-cylinder diesel engine in F-Pace achieves 57.7mpg and CO2 emissions of just 129g/km.
Jaguar Land Rover’s latest model also benefits from significant investments in the company’s Castle Bromwich plant. The £400-million ($620 million) investment in facilities across this site included a new blanker line which produces blank sheets of aluminium used to create F-pace body panels, making it the most aluminium-intensive product in its class.
The Jaguar F-pace First Edition is available to order from retailers, with deliveries in Spring/Summer 2016, while the F-Pace also goes on sale in 2016.
