Montblanc has unveiled a new collection that pays tribute to a time when the newly established company revolutionized the manufacturing of fine writing instruments.
With an uninterrupted history of delivering innovation, the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1912 skilfully combines elegance in design, and traditional craftsmanship with a milestone in technology.
Montblanc master craftsmen have come together to explore new approaches in engineering and design. As part of this exploration, these experts have manufactured a mechanism that controls both the complex retractable nib movement and the piston filling functions with just one simple pull of the cone. Despite its intricacy, the elaborate two-step screw mechanism is ingenious in its simplicity.
With a cap and barrel in deep precious black resin, decorated with polished platinum-plated fittings, the classic design of the collection is inspired by the original Simplo safety filler, the fountain pen that is said to have made portable writing instruments a practical reality.
The white cap top crowning this masterpiece references the forerunner of the Montblanc emblem, introduced with the first safety fillers.
The famous Montblanc Star emblem that symbolises the firm’s commitment to the highest quality and finest European craftsmanship, is encased in a dome of transparent resin covered with mother-of-pearl coloured lacquer.
The 585 solid gold and rhodium-plated nib has also undergone its own evolution. Crafted and polished by hand, it features a triangle shaped heart hole, specially designed for the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1912.
Montblanc has also released a new edition of its skeletonised fountain pen to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its iconic Meisterstück, called the .Montblanc Meisterstück 90 Years Collection.
The Meisterstück 90 Years Skeleton pays tribute to the first skeletonised fountain pen created by Montblanc in 1999 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Meisterstück, the writing instrument first manufactured in Hamburg in 1924.
In a new interpretation of its original design, the writing instrument comes with delicately skeletonised, ruthenium-plated cap and barrel delivering a polished grey effect. Inspired by the shape of the Meisterstück 149, the instrument reveals its inner workings seen through a delicate cut-out design that eliminates superfluities.
The solid red gold nib (Au750), elegantly engraved with the special 90 Years design that features on every piece from the Meisterstück 90 Years Collection, contrasts with the polished grey appearance of the fountain pen with its intricate skeleton structure.
For over 100 years, Montblanc has embraced the traditions of lasting value and exquisite craftsmanship. The company’s uncompromising principles of design, style, quality and workmanship have allowed them to create heirloom collections that are passed from generation to generation. Its iconic emblem is a symbol of excellence – the pinnacle of luxury writing instruments, timepieces, jewellery, leather, fragrances and sunglasses – and the brand has made an enduring commitment to encourage excellence through cultural advancement.
