Spanish charter airline Wamos Air and Lufthansa Technik have extended an existing co-operation which dates back more than a decade by a further two years.
Since 2003, Lufthansa Technik has been providing a ‘Total Component Support’ (TCS) service for the Boeing 747 fleet of Spain’s third largest long-range airline.
On the occasion of the integration of a fifth 747-400 into the contract, the agreement was recently extended for further two years.
The TCS agreement covers component repair and overhaul services as well as pooling, home base at Wamos Air's main base at Madrid.
Wamos Air General Manager Enrique Saiz says: "We are very satisfied with the performance of Lufthansa Technik. After working together for 12 years, they really proved to be a reliable partner. We look forward to continuing growing hand in hand with them."
Lufthansa Technik Director Sales Europe Georgios Ouzounidis comments: "Since the first day of operations Lufthansa Technik has been supporting Wamos Air with technical services. We are extremely delighted that our trustful relationship with Wamos Air continues.
“Our long-lasting expertise on maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the Boeing 747-400 is a perfect base to deliver the quality which enables Wamos Air to further follow its successful growth path."
Formerly Pullmantur Air, Wamos Air is based at Madrid Barajas International Airport in Spain. It operates a selection of charter flights to other airlines with its five Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Wamos Air is Spain's third largest long-haul airline and offers long-haul services to several Caribbean destinations and feeder services for Pullmantur Cruises to Scandinavia from its main base Madrid Barajas International Airport.
The airline unveiled its new branding Wamos Air and livery in December 2014.
The Lufthansa Technik Group, with about 30 subsidiaries and associates and over 26,000 employees worldwide, is one of the leading providers of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial aircraft: maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines and components.
Lusthansa Technik is also a major force in the Middle East, which accounts for 70 per cent of its VIP business, and remains the number one completions centre and technical service provider for 747s worldwide.
